A 3rd year student in the Department of Mass Communication Technology, Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Songkhla Campus, is currently in the process of filming a short film as part of a special project for the 9th Short Film Festival organized by the department. The film will be screened at an actual cinema in the province of Songkhla in March 2566 (2023). This is part of the curriculum aimed at encouraging students to create works of art and gain experience before entering the media and film industry job market after graduation.
Assis. Prof. Jakkrit Kaewprasert, instructor, and head of the Mass Communication Technology program, has revealed that the curriculum is continuously preparing and developing to keep up with technology. Additionally, the curriculum is designed to promote and encourage students to have a well-rounded knowledge and ability in all areas. The course has prepared classrooms and equipment to be ready for learning, including both static and moving image studios, various equipment for filming, as well as post-production work to ensure quality results.
As the government has been trying to attract more foreign film crews to shoot in Thailand, our curriculum is well-prepared for this purpose. In the past, large Thai film crews have used facilities in Songkhla province and the studio of our department to shoot films. We are ready to support all students who wish to participate or create opportunities for themselves in the film industry both domestically and internationally.
Miss Thawanya Panruk, a student majoring in Mass Communication Technology, said that film production is an interesting field because it allows us to learn many things, including critical thinking, writing, and most importantly, problem solving.
Mr. Thaniya Danbenjakhun, one of the actors in the short film, told the news team that this program is not just for students in the field of study. It is also an opportunity for students from other faculties or external individuals to participate in the performance. It has helped many people discover their passion and career aspirations in the film industry. He also mentioned that if there are future opportunities for the Thai or international film industry to come in and offer opportunities for Thai people to participate, he is ready to learn and seize those opportunities.
